Alberto Burri (1915–1995) was an Italian abstract artist known for his radical use of unconventional materials, including burnt wood, burlap, plastic, metal, and charred canvas. A pioneer of Post-War Art and Art Informel, Burri transformed destruction into creation, challenging traditional painting techniques by incorporating textures, fire, and industrial materials into his artworks. His approach laid the foundation for movements such as Arte Povera and Conceptual Art.
